Polyamide 6.6 (trademark NYLON) and Polyamide 6 (trademark PERLON) are the most widely used engineering thermoplastics due to their versatility. Because of their excellent strength and toughness, they are used as construction materials throughout the industry.
PA 6.6 and PA 6 can be spun into threads, which are characterized by high tensile strength and a very good elasticity. Nylon and Perlon fibers are used in women’s stockings and sportswear, as well as in the manufacture of paints and adhesives, parachutes, fishing lines and more.
The two Polyamides are very similar in their chemical and mechanical properties, but there are also some differences:
- PA 6.6 is characterized by a higher temperature resistance and chemical resistance and a lower water absorption
- Benefits of PA 6 are better processability, better surface quality and lower production costs
Our solvent recycling bags – RECBAGS – consist of a mixture of Polyamide 6 and Polyamide 6.6, which combines the respective advantages of the two Polyamides. These solvent recovery liner bags are solvent resistant to most common solvents and heat resistant. The melting temperature is 220° C.
